Reunion

Happy Chinese New Year.

Ever wonder what it really means to celebrate CNY?

Personally, I like the tradition of visiting your relatives and to pay respects to those who have left us. Its the idea of 'reunion' that I enjoy the most. (No not the reunion dinner, the Ang Baos' or all the food. I was sick of 'seafood balls' and 'Ba Kwa' after day 1.) It is true, most of us are probably too busy to meet our uncles, aunties and cousin. Too busy to realize how little time we spend in a year with our grandparents, to only know that, when it is too late.

Did you feel that time stopped during those 4 days of CNY? I felt kind of different. Different from the normal routine of work and study. The change in environment and lifestyle was refreshing. I am suffering from the aftermath. Why can't we have more festive seasons that focus on 'reunion' with love ones.

I enjoyed meeting up with all my friends. Drinking at gardens with Gan and Geri. 'In between' with Big O mates. Swimming with my Secondary school buddies who behave like secondary school kids at 25 and then having congee steamboat at Yanhe's. Poker at Sharon's cool crib with Sheares hall friends. Drinking games at Michelle's. Crab at Kim's with Tracy, Joey and Geri.

I guess there is still much meeting up to be done with other friends. We have years ahead of us as friends but I would just like to wish you, personally, Happy Chinese New Year and may you find peace and love for the year ahead.

I had a fruitful CNY period this year. I wish every year was like this year's. Filled with happiness, company, noise, peace and most of all 'reunion'.

"I work hard for 364 days a year! For one night I am happy to enjoy dinner with everyone. I hope next year will be the same"
My 'Da Po' (Eldest Uncle)
